In Christ’s day, the temple in Jerusalem was a breathtakingly beautiful building—grand, ornate, and at the very center of Jewish religious life. Imagine the shock, then, when Jesus declared that the temple would soon be destroyed! As Alistair Begg demonstrates, though, this announcement was far from terrible news: just as the beauty of the temple pointed to a greater spiritual reality, so would its destruction usher in an era in which Christ’s followers would worship in spirit and truth.
