We live in a culture that displays an increasing contempt for authority. Yet the Bible calls all believers to submit to the authority of Christ and of those the Lord has appointed for their benefit. If a congregation is to flourish under the Word of God, it needs to understand the God-given roles and responsibilities that exist in the church.

In this series, Alistair Begg explains the place of authority among God’s people and the offices that God has established to serve the church. Elders serve through the Word and prayer, while deacons serve as a practical extension of the elders’ ministry. As these officers build the church up, the members of the body serve one another according to their gifts and in submission to the teaching of the Word. All of this is to the glory of God.
