As Christians, our highest calling is to please the Lord. This call is for all those who have trusted in Christ, not just for those in ministry. In this sermon, Alistair Begg identifies four marks of a life focused on fulfilling this calling. When our lives are characterized by fruitfulness, an increased desire to know God, a continual strengthening by God, and a noticable thankfulness, we can know that we are living not for our ourselves but for the Lord.
9And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. 11May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12giving thanks4 to the Father, who has qualified you5 to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
