The Daily Appropriation of Christ in His Gospel

Matthew 5:3–4  (ID: GS843)

The Gospel is not merely the vehicle by which Christians become saved; it is also the means by which we live in accordance with God’s will every day. As Jerry Bridges teaches, a Gospel-centered life begins with awareness of our sins—even the “respectable sins” which are so often overlooked, like pride or impatience. After we acknowledge our guilt, we then experience God’s grace, which allows us to respond with gratitude. This is the daily path to communion with Christ.
