John 20:19-31  (ID: 1794)

The disciples who hid behind locked doors after Jesus’ crucifixion were plagued by fear and doubt. Christ’s unexpected appearance among them, though, changed everything: His presence imparted peace and replaced their panic with joy. Alistair Begg reminds us that such authentic peace and lasting joy are possible for us, too, if we trust in Christ’s saving work and abide in Him. Jesus came to purchase reconciliation between God and Man, and He invites men and women everywhere to enter into His rest.

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

19On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews,3 Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
