The Scriptures never promise us that the Christian life will be all brightness and laughter. In fact, they promise that hard times will come. While the Gospel offers real comfort in the face of pain, biblical joy is found not in lacking hardship but in trusting God, who works all things for our good and His glory.
In this series, Alistair Begg makes it clear that while Christians suffer and grieve as much as anyone, we also have a biblical framework for dealing with affliction, trial, and disappointment. Underpinning our hope is the glorious doctrine of God’s providence, which allows us to declare with the psalmist, “My times are in your hands.”
